Competition Horses - Jesmond Skippy (Skippy)

Skippy was the first horse that we bred in the current era. His early years of competing were interrupted by an injury which bizarrely occurred in the stables when he was 5. This led to him putting a hole in a hind tendon, from which after a long period of rehabilitation has fully recovered. As a result, he only started competing properly as a 7 year old. Due to his injury we were unsure how hard to push him including putting him on loan for a part of a season to compete at BE100 level. However, encouraged by Ginnie Turnbull who tried him out at a couple of events in 2010, we decided to give him a full opportunity to show how good he could be. He has now progressed to 2* level and has won a Novice class with Ginnie.

Character: Skippy is a real character and happy to potter around with my 9 year old daughter riding him. He has been described as Pony Club pony in his mind (if he were a schoolboy, he would be caught behind the bike shed smoking!) But has talent, floaty paces and a great jump.
